help paying my bills

Hello, my name is John, I take care of my mother who is a type 1 diabetic and disabled. I was left unemployed after a medical emergency of my own and have no way to pay my electricity bill. My mother is currently in the hospital due to complications from her diabetes, but should be released soon and by the time she is, the electricity will be cut off. Not only will we have no heat during winter after the brutal snow storm that hit here, but her medication which requires refrigeration will go bad, as well. The minimum amount that needs to be paid is $227.50. I've tried 211, I've tried social services, community action, salvation army, churches, etc. But the other problem is that my only vehicle is down, as well, leaving us stranded. I have no money for groceries or anything else. I have 4 dollars to my name, mostly in change. I'm out of options and the electricity will be cut off in a couple days, the termination bill says it will be terminated after February 19th. Please, someone, if you're reading this and can help, I beg you. Not for me, but for my mother. I'm trying my hardest to find another job and take care of her, but it's just not good enough. Please...

Please help if you can

I am a 47 year old woman. I have permanent disabilities, mental and physical. I am currently caring for an elderly relative with heart failure, kidney failure and various other health issues. My husband of 20 years committed suicide on July 20th, he was over half of our household income. I have been told by Social Security that I'm eligible for SSI, but I can't start collecting it until February because of a piece of property I have to s friend to pay off a debt. We are getting desperate! Any help would be appreciated. we're sinking fast here. If anyone could work on my truck it would be appreciated, I need it to take my dad to his appointments. I also have untreated diabetes.

Any way to lower ongoing Virginia Chapter 13 Bankruptcy payment that is current

Hi, I am trying to help a friend and family member find a way to lower his bankruptcy payment. He was self employed and suddenly forced to quit working due to his health 4-5 years ago. This resulted in owing self employment and other taxes and bills that he could not pay. He sold and paid everything he could, but finally had to file chapter 13 bankruptcy in order to keep his home. This was 12/2008.
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO OR WHO TO CONTACT IN ORDER TO GET A BANKRUPTCY PAYMENT REDUCED SO IT WILL NOT BECOME DEFAULT. IT IS CURRENT. IT IS A VIRGINIA CHAPTER 13. IT IS IN THE 3RD YEAR. MOST OF THE DEBT IS TO THE IRS.

He receives $789.00 a month from social security and nothing else, but he does get medicaid so he has health coverage and he gets $92.00 a month in food stamps(They do not consider that a bankruptcy payment takes away money that could be used for food). BUT - THE PAYMENT FOR THE BANKRUPTCY IS $584.00. $789.00 -584.00 = $204.00
When he filed for bankruptcy he had about $900.00 more money a month coming in. A problem with the company that was paying him happened early in 2010 and this money was put on hold until a court ruled on it. Any way, it is still being delayed.
His bankruptcy payments are still current. I am helping him as much as I can and I wish I knew someone else that would but I do not. He has really helped me and my family in the past.
I called the bankruptcy court about lowering his payments and left a message. His bankuptcy lawyer called him back and said NEVER to call the bankruptcy court again.  He also said that he reviewed his case and that his payments could not be lowered even though his income was not the amount that it was.  This does not make sense to me.  How can you keep paying something you don't have.  If he defaults on the payment, the IRS can take his home and he only owes about $10,000.00 on it.  I read something about forgiveness of IRS debt, but the lawyer said that would not apply since he was already in bankruptcy. (Unless I misunderstood)HELP
He does not have money for any thing. Family, friends, food banks, and help with utilities ($25+ at a time) has been keeping him going. He is from a lower middle class background and when he was working, although he was self employed, he worked alone as a tradesman - long hours, not enough money.
He is the same age I am - 67, a good man, doesn't drink, helps others, but cannot work because he has just recovered from another major surgery.
IF ANYONE CAN GIVE ANY ADVISE OR HELP IN ANY WAY IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

home repair for elderly/disabled female

Hello
Depending on what city and state you are in there could be community service programs that may help you. How about checking with Habitat for Humanity? Check with your local hardware store to see if you can get help and even city hall for any programs that may help you. Try to have someone a friend or friends there with you when you are interacting with people from the different places. Just to be on the safe side. I would check with your senior center to see if they know of anything. too.
Good luck

home repair for elderly/disabled female

Can you please tell us hwere you live? Also, there is a website called www.freecycle.com if you log onto this website you will find people who give things away. Yes these items are FREE! I have seen many people giving away washers, dryers, stoves, etc. You may be able to find a stove there. You can also look on Craigslist. They have a FREE section on the lower center of the main page. You may be able to find things there as well.

As for the wall repairs, I would try to post something on Craigslist and see if maybe a neighbor might be able to help you.

home repair for elderly/disabled female

I am a 62 year old female whose sole source of income in my SSI disability check. I live in a mobile home (which I own) that is literally falling apart. I have no functioning kitchen stove or sink, my hot water heater is broken as is my air conditioner and there are holes in my walls large enough for a small cat to pass through, Also the ceiling in my shower has basically fallen down and my bathroom floor has a hugh hole in bathroom floor that I have covered with a piece of wood. I need some sort of help to at least make minimal repairs. I can't afford to move & I really don't want to. I am not as young as I might like to be but more importantly, I have several pets that are my main reason for living.  They love me and I love them and will go to almost any lenghs to protect them and keep them healthy & happy. Can anyone help?

Help Me Help My Elderly Grandmother

Hello to anyone interested in possibly helping me. I realize most of the people here who are asking for help have a family with kids involved and I don't, but my situation is almost as dear as the kids doing without here. I am praying that someone out there will have a huge heart for the elderly and would understand my need for assistance.

I am a single disable lady (44 years old) who lives in Independence, MO (roommate situation) and my only other family member lives in GA. My grandmother is now 89 years old and her health isn't looking too good. I have lived in MO for 13 years and I feel it in my heart that it's time for me to return in order to help take care of my grandmother instead of putting her into a nursing home. I had vowed to her since a little girl that I would NEVER, EVER allow her to go into a nursing home when she got older for strangers to care for her as long as I had a breathe in my body. And although there are miles in between us I have kept in contact with her on a weekly basis for YEARS since I have lived in MO and we are EXTREMELY close. When I moved from GA I was able working but since then I have become disabled and found myself "trapped" here from the financial burden it would take for someone on a limited income to move that distance. Unfortunately my grandmother isn't able to contribute to the move either.

What I would like help with is for someone to help finance the cost of a U-Haul and tow dolly for my car so that I can use it for my grandmothers appointments. If there is also a way for me to get a gas only card to help with the cost of gas for the distance traveling, that would be absolutely wonderful. Everything could be arranged directly with my local UHaul to insure honesty. I have FULL intentions of downsizing my household goods to bare minimun so that I can try to fit everything into one of the smaller Uhauls. Since my grandmother doesn't have much I will be needing to take most of the more expensive things (couch, washer/dryer, etc) and leaving things that could be replaced over time (chairs, end tables, etc). This move would take place in June/July after my lease is over here. The reason I am unable to move sooner as much as I would love to, there is NO way I can afford to break my lease...nor do I have the heart to ask anyone to help again by paying my share of the lease I am locked into. OH....I will be more then willing to provide proof of my disability and/or income if needed, which is only $650 a month. Not much to live on AND save for my move to help my grandmother. I don't want her to leave this world alone and I can't get there alone financially. BTW....The last time I was able to afford to travel back home was 7 years ago just prior to my disability.

Elderly Parents - Car Repoed - On Food Stamps

My name is Chase, I live in Melbourne Florida. I am trying to take care of my elderly parents who are experiencing severe health problems. I lost my job in July (my employer is refusing to pay unemployment) and my car was just repossessed. I have had to turn to food stamps just to eat. My brothers and sisters are all older than me and won't help because they have families of their own. My mom was a severe alcoholic when I was little and I ended up in Foster Care. I returned home when she was diagnosed with COPD,Colon Cancer and Congestive Heart Failure. I have been trying my best to take care of her and my dad for the past 5 years in place of advancing my own life. I am trying to figure out how to make my situation better; and have decided to go back to school. If you can relate and would like to help; I would greatly appreciate it! - Thank you taking the time to read this - Bless You All! - You can donate through PAYPAL my email is CMichaels73@yahoo.com http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=WZ68D3248H24U or send direct to me at home. About JDNeedsHelp

I am a college student who has 2 children, a disabled husband and an elderly mom that I have to take care of. We just found out that if we do not have $1400 in two weeks that we are out on our butts with nowhere to go. I will have the money in mid November but our landlord will not work with that. I have called all of the local agencies I could find on 211 and even the places that they referred me to but nobody has funding right now. I am not worried about my other bills as I can make arrangements on them but I am so stressed out and I don't know what to do about the rent. Please if anyone has anymore suggestions or can help us I would greatly appreciate it.
